About Me

The Full Story

🌱 About Me:
I have been working in the voluntary sector since 2009, after returning to work following the birth of my first child. Previous to this I had been working at a design and publishing company where I was involved in ghost writing and editing for a business magazine aimed at small business owners. I studied Voluntary & Third Sector Management, gaining a post graduate certificate in 2012 and hold a Level 3 Training & Education Award, allowing me to deliver training in the further education and skills sector. I have two children who I hope to inspire through my work ethic.

I am a founding director of Spring into Action, a community interest company. Set up in 2012, it has a vision of an inclusive society where people with learning disabilities can fully participate. Spring into Action is committed to creating a world where every individual, regardless of their abilities, feels valued and empowered to fully participate in life.

💼 Experience & Expertise:
In my role as founding and managing director, I bring a diverse skill set, learned through years of managing a small organisation. My expertise spans from service development, project planning and delivery, to grant writing, people management, financial processes, and operational efficiency. I've successfully secured over £750,000 in funding since 2018, primarily through grants and trusts, enabling Spring into Action to deliver and expand its impact. I like processes and empowering people to develop their own skills.

🤝 Community Engagement:
Beyond my role at Spring into Action, I serve as a voluntary director and Vice Chair at Selnet, a nationally recognised social enterprise and the lead body representing social enterprise in the Lancashire sub-region. Additionally, I proudly chair the board of governors at a local primary school, contributing to the educational landscape of our community and young people. In the past I have also volunteered for local volunteer led groups including a Scout group and the NCT Bumps and Babies groups.

🔍 Freelance Work:
My prior freelance engagements have equipped me with invaluable experience in contract management, internal assessment reviews, project site visits, and research/evaluation of projects. These diverse experiences have broadened my perspective and enhanced my approach to organisational management and development.

🌟 Future Pursuits:
In 2024, alongside my work at Spring into Action, I made a commitment to give back my expertise to support other organisations. Inspired by the desire to create opportunities for my children and driven by recent life changes, I'm enthusiastic about embracing new challenges and contributing to the success of like-minded individuals and organisations.
